The concept that objects and ideas have an expiration date for every individual. One day we may need it,` the next day not. Others may not care and some just get lost. The idea of rebirth is to bring art work together that is created by these lost and forgotten items. Rebirth gives us another chance to see and create already once used and created concepts and materials into something new.

Drawn to the collage of geometric compositions with natural
environments, Chris Vogel realizes these figures in real space and
time. Using bookbinding thread Chris has experimented grid like shapes and
planes across rooms to see how they manipulate natural spaces. The
planes dissect the space around them in a multitude of fractions and
triangles that shift as you move between them.

Thank you to all that came in support of our
One Year Anniversary
potluck on July 4th. It really means a lot to us to see returning faces
as well as
the new ones for the last year. It has been quite a ride here at WE
Artspace, having now produced 11 Group Shows, 2 Solo Shows, a 5 Weekend
long Holiday Craft Fair, 2 art film events and more than 20 musical
events. The amazing thing is that we accomplished our goals while
maintaining a home and a marriage, a healthy dog and holding 5
part-time jobs between the two of us (which I believe may have been
around 7 or 8 at one point). So this is for all of you, for all this
was achieved with the help of those who wished to participate and help
carry culture into the future. Creating day in and day out,
interweaving landscapes of social behavior with cut outs and mixed
pigments. Questioning the beauty sought by the beholder; themselves.
WE belong to Art Culture. WE breath life into it, even as spectators.
Thank
you everyone
for a great first year!
August Opening Reception August 8th, 2010 5pm-9pm
"WE Are All Going To Die" Show installed from August 8th through August 29th
WE Artspace is
pleased to announce the opening of WE Are All Going to Die,
recent two and three-dimensional workby
T. Joseph Enos. The work by this up-coming local artist uses modern
paradigms
to function as creative instruments. By using man-made materials he
references
his personal appreciation, for the physical world. Through vibrantly
colored
yet soft edged abstract blobs, his longstanding fetish for the comedic
side of
life is revealed. As one’s previous generation enjoyed watching Warner
Bros’ Looney
Tunes, the every day observer can
consume
his interpretation of the grotesque archetypes from the modern era. His
compositions can be viewed as a translation of Frank Zappa’s lyrics “I
am the slime oozen out. From your t.v. set”.
The opening reception will happen on Sunday August 8, 2010 from 5-9pm,
with
performances by Tastyville, Native Naive, Jord Peck and The Squid, and
Dakota
Slim starting at 6pm. This show will be installed till August 29, 2010.
Opening Reception Music By: Tastyville, Native Naive, Jord Peck & the Squid and Dakota Slim

"ri-FLEKT"
Show Installed
from October 4th through November 20th
Chris Sollars' work revolves around the reclamation and
subversion of private and public space through interventions, the results of
which are integrated into mixed media installations utilizing drawing, photography,
sculpture and video. At WE, Sollars will create a series of works based on the
interior and exterior of WE. Inside, Sollars will use images and objects from
around the private/public WE space, as inspiration for a collection of works
both on display and intervened around the room. From the Window gallery to the
street, Sollars will take inspiration from the Bus stop and neighborhood for a
series of interventions, sculptures and videos.
Thanks
to those who attended the Vegetarian Dinner that was prepared by Joshua
Ploeg on 10/21. It was a real treat. By far the best home made vegan
pho I have ever had. WE Artspace looks forward to hosting another
dinner with the Traveling Chef (joshua ploeg) sometime at the beginning
of next year,
so stay tuned.
Here is more information about the Traveling Chef, as well as a link to his incredible cookbook published by microcosm publishing, In Search Of The Lost Taste.
